PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
COOL-CLIMATE SPIDER MITE CONTROL WITH HIBERNATION ADVANTAGE
Neoseiulus fallacis predatory mites provide chemical-free control of spider mites and other pest mites specifically optimized for cool-climate growing.
HOW THIS PEST CONTROL WORKS
Neoseiulus fallacis are deployed as live predatory mites that immediately begin hunting pest mites upon release. This cool-climate specialist remains active in temperature ranges that slow other predatory mite species, making it ideal for spring, fall, and cool-climate growing environments.
UNIQUE ADVANTAGES
- Unlike most predatory mite species, Neoseiulus fallacis enters a dormant state (diapause) at lower temperatures than its target pest mites. This unique characteristic allows fallacis to remain active while pest mites are still in hibernation, creating an exceptional window for early-season pest control before pest emergence becomes a problem. This hibernation advantage makes it particularly valuable for mid-spring planting and early preventative integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
- Neoseiulus fallacis can survive winter in cool climates by sheltering in protected growing areas, plant materials, and cover crops. This overwintering capability allows predator populations to establish and persist year-round in cool-climate regions, providing continuous pest control readiness across seasons. This is particularly valuable for perennial crops and multi-season growing operations in cool climates.
- Neoseiulus fallacis has been extensively studied and is widely used for spider mite control in commercial operations, particularly on strawberry farms in coastal regions and specialty herb farms. This proven track record demonstrates its effectiveness and reliability for various growing scenarios in cool climates.
RELEASE RATES:
Light Infestation:1-2 mites per square foot
Heavy Infestation: 2-4 mites per square foot
Introduce weekly or bi-weekly as needed
Temperature Range: 50-90° F
Humidity: 55-90%
Release rates vary based on:
- Type and severity of pest infestation
- Size of growing area
- Environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, vegetation)
- Other beneficial insect populations already present
RELEASE INSTRUCTIONS:
- TIME YOUR RELEASE: Early morning, evening, or when grow lights are off. Avoid midday heat and direct sunlight.
- PREPARE PLANTS: Lightly mist foliage before release to improve habitat.
- APPLICATION: Apply predatory mites directly to pest mite infested areas. For concentrated release, pour bottle contents into hanging boxes and hang near infested areas. Leave container in place for 72 hours to allow full release.
- MONITOR: Continue monitoring for pest mite activity. Repeat releases as needed until pest mite populations decline.
- SACHET TRANSITION: Transition to slow-release sachets for ongoing preventative control once pest mite populations are managed.
STORAGE:
For best results, introduce immediately upon receipt. If storage is necessary, store at 45-55°F for no longer than 24 hours. Store out of direct sunlight. Do not freeze.
