Target Pests
Two-spotted spider mites, European red mites, spruce spider mites, southern red mites, and more.
Product Description
This tiny black ladybug relative specializes in hunting spider mites at every life stage, supplementing its diet with aphids and other soft-bodied pests when mite populations run low. Adults are easily recognized by their round, dome-shaped bodies, fine hairs on the wing covers, and distinctive brownish-yellow markings on the mouthparts, legs, and antennae. Both adults and larvae actively target spider mites, making this beetle an effective long-term ally against infestations.

Introduction Rates
10 beetles per infested plant, weekly, for 3–4 weeks or 100 beetles per "hot spot," weekly until established.
Ideal temperature: 68–86°F. Ideal humidity: 60–80%
Rates are general guidelines. Actual needs vary by pest species, plant, and infestation level. Monitor both pests and released insects to gauge success.
Application
Introduce during mild morning or evening temperatures. Locate infested plants and disperse beetles by sprinkling the bottle's contents directly onto the affected area. Leave the container open near the plants for 24 hours so any remaining beetles can make their way out.
Pro Tips
- For fuller control of spider mite infestations, pair with predatory mites such as:
- Amblyseius andersoni (heat-tolerant generalist)
- Amblyseius cucumeris (thrips & spider mites)
- Amblyseius swirskii (spider mites, thrips & whiteflies)
- Phytoseiulus persimilis (two-spotted spider mite specialist)
- Special Blend Mite Mix (blend of A. andersoni, A. cucumeris, A. swirskii, and P. persimilis)
-
Neoseiulus californicus (heat-tolerant generalist)
- Feltiella acarisuga, a flying spider mite predator, is another strong complement.
- Correct pest identification matters. Closely monitor your crop and introduce beneficials early for the best results.
- Pesticides, wetting agents, and broad-spectrum or systemic insecticides can harm beneficial insect survival.
- Introduce immediately upon receipt for best results. If storage is necessary, keep at 50–60°F for no longer than 18 hours, out of direct sunlight. Do not freeze.
