The adult A. cucumeris mites are pear-shaped and have a tan coloration. They measure less than 0.5mm (1/50 inch) in length. In the absence of these pests, A. cucumeris can sustain itself by consuming pollen. Approximately 60% of the A. cucumeris population consists of females, and well-fed females can lay up to 3 eggs per day for a period of 35 days. The eggs are tiny, round, transparent, and typically deposited on the undersides of leaves.
