MOTH CONTROL
Moths are a diverse group of insects belonging to the order Lepidoptera. They come in various shapes, sizes, and colors, but most moths have a characteristic moth-like appearance. They have two pairs of wings covered in scales, which can range from dull browns and grays to vibrant patterns and colors. Unlike butterflies, moths are primarily active at night and are often attracted to artificial lights.
Moths can be considered pests due to their ability to infest and damage various materials, particularly those of animal origin, such as fabrics, woolens, fur, and stored food products. Clothes moths, for instance, are notorious for their larvae, which feed on natural fibers like wool, silk, feathers, and fur. These larvae, commonly known as woolly bear caterpillars, can cause significant damage to clothing, carpets, upholstered furniture, and other household items.
Integrated pest management (IPM) approaches, such as introducing natural predators or parasites, using traps & lures, applying natural protectants & treatments, and practicing good plant hygiene, can help manage pest insect populations effectively. Regular monitoring and early detection are crucial in preventing severe infestations and minimizing the damage caused by these persistent pests.
