Thrips Control Garden Pack | Active Infestation Full-Lifecycle Control

$78.99

Thrips are hard to knock down with any single product because they live in two different places at two different life stages: adults and nymphs feed and breed on plant foliage, while pupae drop into the soil to finish developing, out of reach of anything that only works above ground. The Thrips Control Garden Pack is built for an active infestation already underway — combining three heavy-rate biocontrol agents that hit thrips at every life stage, in both zones, at once.

This pack includes

200 Orius insidiosus (minute pirate bugs)

25,000 Amblyseius cucumeris with 5 hanging boxes

25 million Sf beneficial nematodes — sized for heavy-infestation treatment of roughly 200 sq. ft.

What's In This Pack, and Why

200 Orius insidiosus

A generalist predatory bug that actively hunts and attacks all life stages of thrips (egg, nymph, adult) on plant foliage, and also feeds on mites, aphids, and moth eggs when present.

25,000 Amblyseius cucumeris + 5 hanging boxes

Applied at the heavy-infestation rate, targeting thrips larvae directly on foliage alongside Orius. The hanging boxes concentrate the mites on the worst-hit areas and keep the product dry.

20 million Sf beneficial nematodes

The below-ground component, applied at full heavy-infestation strength to target thrips pupae in the soil before they can complete their life cycle and emerge as new breeding adults.

Together, these interrupt an active thrips population at every stage of its life cycle, in both the zones where it lives. Not just knocking down what's visible on your plants today, but cutting off the next generation before it emerges.

How It Works

Orius and cucumeris both work on plant surfaces: Orius actively hunts and pierces thrips at any life stage, while cucumeris targets thrips larvae directly. Sf nematodes work the shallow soil layer, where thrips pupae complete their development — infecting and killing them with bacteria before they can emerge as adults and restart the cycle above ground. Because all three components are dosed at heavy/curative strength here, this pack is built to bring down an infestation that's already established, not just hold the line preventively.

Coverage & Application Rates

This pack is sized for approximately 200 sq. ft. at heavy-infestation application rates across all three components.

Component Rate  Frequency
Orius insidiosus 1 orius per sq. ft. (200 total) Multiple introductions recommended
Cucumeris bottled mites 10-15 mites per sq. ft. (125,000 mites would fully saturate 200 sq ft at this rate — 25k provides an initial dose to combine with Orius, not a standalone full-rate treatment) Weekly, as needed
Sf nematodes 5 million per 50 sq. ft. (25 million total) Weekly or bi-weekly

Temperature Considerations

Orius insidiosus: 50°F–94°F; to avoid diapause, keep above 73°F, or above 50°F with supplemental lighting
Cucumeris: 54°F–80°F
Sf nematodes: 59°F–79°F soil temperature

Narrowest shared window across all three: roughly 73°F–79°F, where every component stays fully active.

Application Instructions

Orius & Cucumeris: Gently disperse onto infested plants or into hanging boxes to concentrate coverage on the worst-affected areas. Leave open containers in place for 24–72 hours to allow remaining insects to disperse. Avoid placing directly on soil.

Sf Nematodes: Mix with 59–69°F water and apply to pre-moistened soil using a watering can or sprayer. Keep soil moist for two weeks following application; avoid runoff.

Pro Tips

Remove yellow sticky traps for the first few days after releasing Orius and cucumeris.
Control ants first if present. They'll defend other honeydew-producing pests from all three biocontrol agents.

Repeat, staggered introductions of Orius are recommended for an active infestation rather than a single release.

Storage

Orius and cucumeris should be introduced immediately upon receipt; if brief storage is necessary, keep at 45–55°F, out of direct sunlight, for no more than 24 hours. Sf nematodes should be activated and used within 6 hours of mixing; unactivated nematodes can be stored at 36–45°F for up to 30 days, in a dark place. Do not freeze any component.
