About Mole Traps

Most mole traps require you to dig up the tunnel and create a soil blockage to force moles into the trap β€” which means more work, and more chances for moles to sense something's off. The Trapline Mole Trap takes a different approach: it fits directly into an intact tunnel and fires when the mole bumps into the trigger pan, placing it in a predictable position for a clean, consistent catch every time.

No dirt blockages, no complicated setup. The smaller spring operates freely without closing through soil, which allows for higher trigger sensitivity and smoother operation. All stainless steel construction means no rust and no performance decline over time.

Mole Trap Placement Instructions

  1. Locate an active mole tunnel by probing the ground in your yard. Active tunnels will feel hollow underfoot or can be identified by raised ridges in the lawn.
  2. Dig or press open a small section of the tunnel just large enough to insert the trap.
  3. Place the set trap into the tunnel opening with the trigger pan facing into the tunnel. The trap should sit flush in the run.
  4. Block off the tunnel entrance behind the trap with loose soil or a dirt clod to prevent light from entering. Do not create a soil blockage in front of the trap β€” moles enter naturally without needing to push through anything.
  5. Check the trap every 24 hours. Reset as needed until the mole is caught.

Tips for Best Results

  • Work in active tunnels only. Fresh soil pushes and soft ridges indicate recent activity.
  • Wear gloves when handling the trap to reduce human scent transfer.
  • Attach a string or stake to the trap before placing to prevent loss in the tunnel.
  • All stainless steel construction requires no maintenance β€” rinse and dry after use for long-term storage.
