Catnip Seeds - Nepeta cataria

Grown in Williams, Oregon by Strictly Medicinal Seeds

Catnip is a European native that's made itself thoroughly at home in gardens everywhere. Soft, downy, silvery-green foliage topped with delicate spikes of pale white-green flowers. It's famously irresistible to cats, but people enjoy it just as much, often as a calming tea. Flowers attract pollinators and other beneficial insects. It's an easygoing perennial that asks for little more than sun and soil on the drier side. If it ever gets too enthusiastic, overwatering will knock it back quickly.

How to grow it

Direct sow after the last frost, either scattered directly on a prepared bed or started in flats. Germination is naturally slow and a little uneven so don't worry if seeds come up over a stretch of time rather than all at once. Expect sprouts in 7–14 days at 65–75Β°F, with flowers following 90–120 days after sowing.

Starting indoors works too. Sow 4–6 weeks before the last frost. Space plants 2 feet apart, and water moderately; catnip prefers to dry out between waterings rather than stay damp.
